Memorial Day Weekend

Gruene Hall
My extremely handsome husband

Boys setting up camp!

Jason and I had the opportunity to go camping with some friends of ours, Jeremy and Candice Collins, over the Memorial Day weekend and I wanted to share what all we did. It was some much needed rest and relaxation and we had great friends to do it with. We left Friday and headed up to Canyon Lake right outside San Marcus which is only about two and a half hours away from where we live. Jason got to see some of his old stomping grounds around Texas State on the way up and while we were there we ate at Mamacitas. This was one of his favorite restaurants to eat at while he was at Texas State (Southwest Texas).

Every morning we cooked breakfast and soaked up some sun while planning our day. Each day contained its essentials; breakfast, lunch, nap time, dinner. We worked our scheduled around those four things. On Saturday, we rode around in the boat and stopped in the "party cove". Jason is not to keen on heights so I am going to brag on him while we are talking about it. The guys where jumping off a cliff that was about 30 feet up and I could tell he thought they were crazy. After watching a few jump he surprisingly decided to try it. I could not believe it. :O I waded in the water to cheer him on and you could tell by his face on the way down he was shell shocked. Not that this is something I would encourage him to do again, but he faced one of his fears. Good job babe. That night we went to Gruene Hall and ate at the Gristmill (one of my favorite spots). I love the atmosphere and the unique look of the town. We have already decided that we are going back in July to spend more time.

On Sunday, we faced the frigid waters of the Guadalupe River and floated for about two hours. I have to say, the people where quite entertaining; both to watch and to listen to. Jason and I have never floated the river on such a popular weekend and we had a blast. After the river we had to stop in and get some Blue Bell Ice Cream from Gruene Country Store. What a way to end a float. Can't go wrong with ice cream. We did a little shopping there in town and sipped some tasty wine at the winery. That night we had a fish fry at our camp site and everyone came over. It was so nice to get to hang out with our friends away from our cell phones and computers. Monday morning came early, but there was motivation to rise: The Premiere Outlet Mall in San Marcus. We left the camp site early, but our detour to the mall made for a late night getting home. Oh well, I found some great deals. I look forward to going back this summer!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's in our lives; Aunts, sisters, grandmothers, and cousins. We love you all and hope you have a blessed day. Even though we are not with you, we are thinking about how wonderful you are.

Home is Where the Heart Is

Here are some pictures of our home. We love working outside doing yard. Here is Jason's new toy (TV) and the work bench he built and is so proud of. Hope you enjoy!

From the beginning

In Dominican Republic
Getting ready to zip line through the canopies of Costa Rica.

The day our life began together. The feeling we had is written all over our faces. PERFECT!!!!

July 4th, 2008 on the Waterway in The Woodlands.

Jason and I will be married two years on June 9 and it feels like yesterday we just got married. We have had so much fun these first two years as husband and wife. We have experienced good times and bad and with each situation we grow closer to one another. We have traveled to Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, taken many exploratory trips around the Houston area, and we survived Hurricane Ike after a tree hit our house. As I was reminiscing about our beginning I came across some of my favorite pictures of us. I thought I would share some of our memories.

This is his year!!!!!!!!!!

So, in many of my previous posts I have spoke about my belief in the underlying meanings of things I find or see. Well, TJ Maxx is my favorite store to find bargains and while I was doing some afternoon browsing today I found a little figurine that hopefully is an insight into what is to come in 2009! As most of you know, Jason is trying to get into Dental school. This little guy was on a clearance shelf and I just fell in love with it. When I read the quote on the bottom I knew I had to get it for Jason. The quote on the bottom reads, "Choose a job you love, and you will never work another day in your life". The picture speaks for itself!

Kenny Chesney Continued.......

Jason and I had to get up at 5 am the next morning for work. :(

The view from our seats :)

Sun City Carnival Tour

So Jason, my mom and I got the chance to go see Lady Antebelum, Miranda Lambert, and the one and only Kenny Chesney. I understand why he gets Entertainer of the Year almost every year. He sang for two hours and put on an awesome show. It was a beautiful night and I wanted to share our pictures.

Amazing LOVE........

Wow! I had one of the best evenings last night. Before Jason and I got married, we went through pre-martial counseling. It is standard for our pastor to require this and I tell you what, we learned so much from our sessions. Our pastor, Simon, gave us the book "The Five Love Languages" and I recommend it to everyone who is married or getting married. Anyway, one of the promises we made to each other during this time was a weekly 'date night' no matter what was going on in our lives. We have been really good about this, but date night seems to have become "let's just grab a bit to eat". Now, there is nothing wrong with this, because it gives us a chance to just stop and enjoy each others company. But, I told Jason Tuesday night when we sat down for dinner at the house that I wanted to go on a date like we use to do when we were in college.

So, Jason planned a whole evening around things we both enjoy. When we got off work we went home and got ready. We ate out on the patio of Chuy's and talked about things that we have not talked about in a long time. Life seems to pull the rug out from under you sometimes and it was so nice to feel like it was only Jason and I out there. It was like we were in our own world. After dinner we went to see "Obsessed" in The Woodlands. Once we left the movie we walked over to the Waterway Marriott down to the river walkway. You could hear Dave Matthews Band still playing their concert at the Pavillion and we were lucky enough to caught the end as we were walking. It was a beautiful night and the breeze just chilled everything off. As we were headed back to the car we ended up walking pass a couple of high-end Woodlands night life locations. As you can tell we rarely go there. We are more movie on the couch people a.k.a. old married couple. As unspontaneous as we are, I was shocked when Jason wanted to find a table in Gooses Acre, a pretty cool place right off the waterway. We located a table right in front of the cover band, ordered a glass of wine, and shared a dessert. It was like being in college again. We talked, laughed and really enjoyed the entire evening together.

This morning when I got up there were roses, chocolate milk, and sprinkled donuts waiting. What more could a girl ask for! I often wonder why God chose me for Jason, because I look at the awesome person he is and then I weigh in on our relationship and the odds that were stacked against us with seperate colleges and many tearful years of long distance and then to see how fortunate we are now. I pray to God everyday and thank Him for the man he is today and the rock he has become to me. We are so in tune with each other that it almost seems impossible that two people could be as close as we are. We have been together 11 years and each year only gets better. I also want to thank his mom for raising him that way he is. He is a fine tuned man of God and I love every inch of him. Love you babe.
