Surgery Time

On December 27, 2012 we drove the dreaded drive to Plano Presbyterian to admit Avery into the hospital for her surgery.  She had to have her tonsils and adenoids removed due to many things; she was ninety percent obstruction, sleep apnea, and would stop breathing during the night while sleeping.  She would wake up grumpy, take 3 to 4 hour naps, wake up grumpy, go to bed at 8:30, and still wake up grumpy in the morning in which we had to wake her up.  It has been exhausting and slowly getting worse.  She would set her Angel Care monitor nightly so something had to be done.

When we got there I had a knot in my stomach and throat but knew I had to keep it together for her sake.  She did great until we had to take her earrings, bow, and pajamas off and put her in her gown which she told us was a towel!  Silly girl!  After they gave her the "happy juice" she started to calm down from all the drama of changing cloths.  We had told her that we were having a party at the "doctor" and that mommy and daddy were going to sleep over with her at the "doctor".  When they came to get her, I could feel the emotions starting to erupt.  She looked at me and said, "go with me mommy" and the tears started rolling.  I gave her one more fist bump and she went right with the anesthesiologist.  No tears from her, just a look of being unsure why we were "going to the party" with her.  Once she was out of my sight I lost it for about thirty minutes.  Longest hour of my life.  We were able to watch the screen in the waiting room which updated us on her status by her patient number.  Jas and I walked down to the gift shop and picked up a few things and grabbed breakfast.  We no more than sat down and here came her doctor saying she was finished and did great!  All I thought was let me see my baby.  He took us right back and we never left her side again.  Seeing her in recovery was pitiful but I just wanted her to know that we were there and she was ok.  She had already began to start drinking which was great and we were in our room in 30 minutes.  Wham bam thank you ma'am.

This was Avery for most of the day Thursday.  Rested a lot and was out.  This broke my heart.
That night she tried to eat and got sick so we got her cleaned up and changed and she was ready to play with her doctor's kit.  She took care of her bear!  Feeling a little bit better.
We were ready to go Friday morning.  Mommy and Daddy were super antsy and Avery enjoyed the nonstop cartoons!
And again, all the balloons that she made sure we knew were coming with us!  Silly girl.  Glad this is all behind us and hopefully she will feel better and start resting!
